'Hello dear friends,
We've been thinking back over the last 12 months and there's just no other way to put it: 2009 has been a wonderful year for Jones Street Station, and it's all because of you. We just simply can't thank you enough for listening and for sharing our music with your friends and loved ones.
What we can do is throw you a giant party and send out 2009 in style.
On Wednesday, December 9 JSS is going to turn Housing Works bookstore and cafe into a dance-filled, costumed, holiday extravaganza:
Dance-Filled... Surely some of your favorite JSS tunes will get you moving, but between and after the live music, birthday boy JB will be spinning carefully crafted sets that are sure to induce a rhythm riot. If there's something that you just need to hear, tell us now and we'll make sure the JB cues it up!
Costumed... Each of the men of JSS will be decked out in holiday attire, and we issue a general challenge to best us. The most impressively costumed boy and girl in the audience will will each win a prize... a big, fancy, and desirable prize.
Holiday... in addition to JSS standards that you might have learned the words to (we're thinking of that spontaneous Tall Buildings singalong at the Mercury Lounge here!), we're going to get into the holiday spirit by playing your favorite holiday tunes. Got suggestions? Write us and tell us what you want to hear and we'll learn it!
Extravaganza... If costumes and dancing and holiday songs weren't already enough, we're also going to be hosting Providence, Rhode Island's the Last Good Tooth - Danny thinks they sound like a Tom Waits' Beirut sandwich.
So there you have it. Music, Dance, Costumes, Sing-alongs, and Prizes. And oh yeah, this party is FREE, and it doesn't matter whether this is your first holiday season or your 100th. All ages are welcome.
