Perennials: 1 Band. 1 Year. 52 Songs. 12 Charities.
Month Two: New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation
Every month, we like to shine a little spotlight on our 12 amazing non-profit partners and this month's featured charity is one of my favorites.
Have you ever been to Jazz Fest in NOLA? If so, my friend, you are doing a good deed. Believe it people! Between the Cochon de Lait and all that great music, you are (not so quietly) supporting an awesome organization that helps keep the cultural traditions of New Orleans alive and stomping.
Besides JazzFest and other festivals (like the upcoming Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival, which kicks off tomorrow) the foundation also owns WWOZ (one of the best radio stations on Planet Earth) and invests heavily in education programs throughout the city like the Heritage School of Music.
Currently, they are working to launch The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Center by renovating a historic building located right next door to their headquarters in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans. The building will feature seven classrooms designed for music education and a 200-seat performance hall for local and touring acts.
If you're enjoying Perennials and want to support the project, please lend a hand to these great partner charities. For more information, on the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, check out their site and thanks for supporting the Perennials project through this fantastic organization!
